Preliminary program

The "2019 International Workshop on Multiscale Innovative Materials and Structures " (MIMS19) " will be held from February 28th through March 2nd, 2019 at the Cetus Hotel of Cetara, Amalfi Coast.


Deadline for Abstracts Submission is December 31, 2018.


The Scientific programme covers Thursday, February 28th, Friday, March 1st, 2019, and the afternoon of March 2nd.

  • Day 1

The morning of February 28th will be devoted to the Opening Ceremony, which will be follwed by two plenary keynote lectures, and a session dedicated to the presentation of research activities developed by the students of the PhD Course in Risk and Sustainability of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Systems at the Department of Civil Engineering Engineering of the University of Salerno.

The afternoon sessions of February 28th will include parallel thematic keynote lectures and parallel sessions dealing with multiscale innovative materials and structures and granular systems (rooms 1 and 2).

  • Day 2

The morining and afternoon sessions of  March 1st will include two parallel thematic keynote lectures and parallel sessions dealing with multiscale innovative materials and structures and granular systems (rooms 1 and 2). 

The banquet will take place on the evening of March 1st.

  • Day 3

A trip along the Amalfi Coast will be organized on the morning of Saturday March 2nd, up to lunch time. 

The  afternoon of March 2nd will be dedicated to free discussions & meetings.

The final program will be posted online a few weeks before the Workshop.

  • Day 2 morning

2 thematic keynote lectures in parallel - 40 min each (one in room 1 and one in room 2)

The topics of the parallel sections will be focused on multiscale innovative materials and structures and granular systems (rooms 1 and 2)

Important Dates

  • August 20th, 2018: Abstract submission and Registration open 
  • December 31st, 2018: Abstracts due and Registration closes
  • January 11th, 2019: Abstracts reviewed and decisions returned to authors
  • February 28th - March 2nd, 2019: The Workshop takes place
  • April 30, 2019: Submission deadline for special issue papers 
  • October 31, 2019: Special issue acceptance deadline

Amalfi Coast Trip

A Trip along the Amalfi Coast will take place on Saturday March 2nd, 2019.

The trip will start from the Cetus Hotel at 7.30 am, and will include stops to the village of Minori, to visit the worldwide famous pastry shop Pasticceria De Riso, inventor of many famous lemon- based cakes (h.8.00 am); the Duomo of  Amalfi (i.e, the Amalfi Cathedral, h. 9.00 am); the Oscar Niemeyer auditorium, which will be diffusely illustrated by two of the designers who have directed the building works of this modern structure completed in 2000 under the design of the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (h. 11.00 am); and the renowned gardens of Villa Rufolo (h. 12.00 am). We will have lunch at the restaurant "Sigilgaida" of Hotel Rufolo (h. 1.00 pm), which has a bright veranda with breathtaking views of the Amalfi coast.

After lunch (around 2.30 - 3.00 pm), we will leave Ravello to come back to the Cetus Hotel. for the final part of the scientific program dedicated to free discussions & meetings.

The trip ticket costs 80.00 Euro (including lunch and admission tickets to the visited sites) and can be purchased at the registration desk on your arrival, in case it has not been included in your registration fee.

The participants who are leaving in the afternoon of March 2nd  can use a shuttle that we will arrange from Ravello/Cetus Hotel to reach Salerno or the Airport of Napoli - Capodichino.
